To date, these cameras have been operating on a pilot basis for data collection only\u00a0and have not involved the issuance of tickets or charges\u00a0as the regulations necessary from the Province of Ontario have not yet been enacted.<\/p>\n<p>The Ford government is now seeking public comment on proposed changes to the Highway Traffic Act that would allow cities to start enforcement in school zones based on data collected from these cameras.\u00a0<strong>If you support automated speed enforcement in school zones you can comment<a href=\"https:\/\/allenbyparents.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5b5527a684a32a91614edc1de&amp;id=443e16337d&amp;e=f487ea71b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/allenbyparents.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5b5527a684a32a91614edc1de&amp;id=6c1fdf90b4&amp;e=f487ea71b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>\u00a0until October 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/allenbyparents.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5b5527a684a32a91614edc1de&amp;id=02c05dbe2b&amp;e=f487ea71b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Toronto\u2019s Automated Speed Enforcement Pilot<\/a>\u00a0provides some alarming data for Avenue Road. 60,170 vehicles driving above the speed limit are detected weekly, of which 22,013 vehicles are driving more than 10km\/hr over the speed limit.\u00a0<strong>The maximum speed detected on Avenue Road &#8211;\u00a0a 40 km\/hr zone &#8211;\u00a0was 109 km\/hr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/allenbyparents.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5b5527a684a32a91614edc1de&amp;id=671815017e&amp;e=f487ea71b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Andrea Spender<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Toronto has installed 10 pilot Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras and is ready to install 50 more under the City\u2019s Vision Zero 2.0 pedestrian safety plan.
