In assessing the safety and traffic related issues that arise in the school zone, the APA\u2019s Traffic Safety Committee has identified the fact that unlike the St. Clements\u2019 school zone, the speed limit on Castlefield Avenue is 40 km\/h (St. Clements is 30 km\/h) and there are no speed bumps. It is our view that the construction of speed bumps on Castlefield Avenue between Castlewood Road and Avenue Road, and the reduction of the speed limit from 40 km\/h to 30 km\/h in that same stretch, would lower the pace of traffic in our school zone and create a safer environment for our kids and community members \u2013 including our kindergarteners who arrive at and depart school in this part of our school zone.<\/p>\n
In order to make this request to the City\u2019s Transportation Department, we need support from at least 25% of residents who live in this stretch of Castlefield (i.e. between Avenue Road and Castlewood Road).
