Get ready Allenby to support the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research<\/strong>. To kick off our Terry Fox fundraising campaign, classes will be learning about the importance of kindness and caring as they look at the legacy of Terry Fox. On Friday, October 1<\/strong>, students and staff will enjoy a mapped route around our neighbourhood. Our students will be participating in a community building celebration by gaining a greater understanding of how we can support cancer research and offering assistance to those who have had to face the challenges associated with this disease.<\/p>\n

Fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation will be organized online this year. Let\u2019s get our fundraising going and show everyone how we can \u201c Try Like Terry\u201d!\u00a0The link to donate on behalf of Allenby P.S. is up and running and easy-to-use. In addition to the school’s planned activities that will build awareness about Terry Fox and his mission,\u00a0the APA’s Health & Wellness committee is excited to partner with the school this year to host a “Virtual Allenby Run”<\/strong> competition.<\/p>\n

This competition will run Saturday, September 25<\/strong> through Thursday, September 30 (6:00 pm).\u00a0<\/strong>Students are encouraged to run or walk daily and track their minutes. A Google tracker<\/a> will be available through your child’s Google classroom or Brightspace.\u00a0All minutes logged will be tallied, and the classrooms with the most minutes will win an extra recess!<\/p>\n

Step 1: \u00a0 Put on your running shoes,\u00a0and STRETCH!
\nStep 2: \u00a0 Get your fitbit or stopwatch ready to time your minutes.
\nStep 3: \u00a0 Run Allenby Run! (Or walk!)
