We hope everyone is enjoying the last week of summer before back to school. The school and APA are getting ready for a fantastic 2014-15 school year!<\/p>\n
Allenby is a busy place, with lots going on and there are always exciting things to report. For new parents, the APA’s weekly newsletter <\/a>is the place to get your information! This publication typically comes out on Thursday afternoon<\/strong>. We know that people are inundated with emails, but we encourage you to take the time each week to read this newsletter. It has important dates from the APA and school, as well as updates on many exciting and important events that your child can experience at Allenby.<\/p>\n In the spirit of Fall and our renewed energy from summer, please consider getting involved this year. During September, we will be listing volunteer positions that require great people. Start to think about how you would like to contribute to our school. There is something for everyone’s time and interests. Whether it is taking an executive position, heading a committee, joining a committee, planning a fundraiser, being part of Kiss ‘n’ Ride to ensure safe entry to school each morning around the traffic, or the greening committee – every little bit adds to the enrichment of our school. Parent involvement is one of the many reasons why Allenby is such a great community to be a part of. Contact me<\/a> at any time for more information on any role or to help decide what meets your interest and time.<\/p>\n The date of the first APA meeting will be Tuesday September 23rd from 7 to 9 in the school library (meetings<\/a> are normally held the last Wednesday of the month, however, September will be on the Tuesday because of Rosh Hashanah). At this first meeting, the 2014-2015 APA budget that was presented in June will be voted on by the parents attending. For those of you who are new to the school, all voting takes place at APA Meetings. Motions are tabled at a meeting, and if it involves an expenditure above $1000, it is voted on at the next meeting. If it is less than $1000, or does not include an expenditure, it can be voted on at the same meeting. Therefore, attending APA meetings is important so that you are able to vote on matters related to your child’s school experience. Childcare is available at every meeting.<\/p>\n The second order of business for the September meeting is to elect the executive committee. Elections are held every year. While some directors have expressed an interest in returning, positions are open to everyone every year. If you are interested in any of the following positions, please contact me<\/a> by September 16th.
