Can you take a guess? It\u2019s the dance-a-thon to support the clean water initiative in Kenya! Students who are part of the grade 6 Free the Children group have been working hard to make this event possible. With your help, we can provide water wells and other clean water resources to Kenyan families in need, while allowing young girls to attend school. Imagine walking five miles with a heavy jug on your head just to collect water that isn\u2019t clean or safe to drink. Now you have to walk back to your house that is nothing more than sticks, rocks and dirt. The worst part is, the polluted water you carried can cause diseases and infections.<\/p>\n<p>Would you like to help these Kenyan families? If so, you can support the clean water initiative in Kenya by asking your friends and family for some money to donate to our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freethechildren.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Free the Children<\/a> campaign. We are asking for $20 per students, but any amount is very much appreciated. We will be selling awesome glow items (between $1 and $5) at the dance-a-thon to add to your donations. Over the next couple of weeks, your child(ren) will be coming home with a pledge form for you to record the donor\u2019s name and donation amount. It doesn\u2019t have to be a lot of money, even if it is only a toonie, every bit counts!<\/p>\n<p>The date of the dance-a-thon will be held in the gym on <strong>Monday, March 7<\/strong>. Each class will spend about 30-40 minutes of dancing with other classes (schedule will be sent to teachers next week). Each grade 6 Free the Children member will be going around to a classroom to educate your kids about why we are fundraising for Kenya and why the clean water initiative is so important.<\/p>\n<p>We are all very excited for this upcoming event, but we can only make it possible with your family\u2019s help! Every donation counts!
