This year, she has proven on countless occasions her commitment to Allenby. She will be greatly missed by staff, students and parents but we know that this new opportunity will provide her with an experience different from that at Allenby which will support her professional learning and leadership.

We welcome Beverley Purchase to the vice principal role for the coming year. Beverley is an experienced vice principal who most recently has worked at Rockford Public School.

TEACHING STAFF CHANGES
Ms. Sharma, Ms. Alberti, Mme. Payne, and Mme. Centeno are all returning to Allenby in September. All four of these teachers have been on leave from Allenby for various reasons; however, I know that I speak on behalf of the students, staff and families that we are thrilled to have them return.

Just as we have some teachers returning from leaves, we have some beginning leaves and thus will not be returning to Allenby next year. Mme. Rosta and Ms. Silbiger are both taking a leave of absence. Mme. Ma is taking a leave to join her ‘soon to be’ husband, in Montreal. Ms. Stephens is undertaking an around-the-world trip with her family next year. We look forward to receiving postcards from her many adventures.

Our projected enrollment impacts our staffing and it is based on these projections that we were in a position of declaring three teachers surplus to Allenby. It is with sadness that I share with you that Ms. Meijer, Ms. Sukhram and Mme. Caruso have been deemed surplus to our school. Fortunately, all three have secured wonderful opportunities for themselves both personally and professionally. Ms. Meijer will be teaching at Duke of Connaught Junior and Senior Public School, Ms. Sukhram will be teaching at Donview Middle Health and Wellness Academy and Mme. Caruso will be teaching at Howard Junior Public School. Although this is a loss to the Allenby Community, I know that they will go on to do amazing things for their new students, families and colleagues. Please join me in wishing them luck in this new chapter of their careers.

Mr. Whitaker and Mr. Cohen will no longer be assigned to Allenby, as their long-term occasional assignments conclude as of June 30, 2016. I want to thank them for their commitment and dedication to Allenby. They are exceptional teachers, even this early in their careers, and will be greatly missed. We certainly hope to have them return to Allenby in the future in some capacity.

Mme. Chau-Wolpert and Mme. Duncan have secured positions at schools closer to home next year. Mme. Chau-Wolpert will be joining the staff of Earl Beatty Junior and Senior Public School and Mme. Duncan will be joining Northlea Elementary and Middle School. We are sad to say goodbye to these two experienced teachers who have had a significant impact on Allenby students and the community. We wish them well in their new endeavours.

Just as we lose a teacher to Northlea Elementary and Middle School, we gain one. Jane Yoon will be joining our French immersion panel at Allenby. Jane is an excellent, experienced primary teacher and we look forward to having her join the Allenby community this fall.

I am presently interviewing to fill a Grade One French immersion position at Allenby along with a long term occasional position. These positions will not be filled by the time that report cards are sent home on Tuesday, although shortly after. The students in these classes will still have an opportunity to meet on Wednesday with another staff member filling in. Once hiring is finalized, I will immediately notify the families of the students in these classes by email.

Tracey O’Toole

Dear Parents, As the end of the year approaches, I want to take this opportunity to share with you some staff changes at Allenby next year.
