The APA’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) committee held its first meeting with our school’s administration on September 14. We are excited to provide impactful resources and events in service of greater inclusivity for the Allenby community throughout the school year.
The DEI committee recognizes the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. We invite students to wear orange as we commit to learning about the history of Residential Schools and recognize that every child matters.
To support your child’s learning at school, check out the following resources:
- CBC Kids: Watch Phyllis Webstad’s story and the significance of the orange shirt
- Toronto Public Library (TPL): Borrow hard copies or virtual books for children and teens recommended by the TPL’s Indigenous Advisory Council
- National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation: Attend virtual events with your family during Truth and Reconciliation Week (Sep 27 – Oct 1)
