A Night to Remember!

Great food, great music and a huge crowd made Big Night Out 2011 a night to remember.  Over 200 Allenby parents and teachers (That’s right, we not only made our goal of 200 tickets, we surpassed it by 50.) rocked their denim and diamonds and partied it up in the school gymnasium.  Although, if you were lucky enough to be there, you would agree that the gym was hardly recognizable as it sparkled and shined thanks in large part to Susan Murray International and to the Big Night Out Set Up and Decorations Committee.

Net proceeds from the event came in well over the committee’s goal of $17,000. In fact, the APA is delighted to announce that $24,000 was raised at Big Night Out this year. In an intense 30 minutes, Colin Smith, an Allenby parent and talented auctioneer, managed to raise $6,000 for the APA. Who would have ever believed that the chance to be Mr. G’s assistant would sell to the highest bidder for a “G” ($1,000)? We challenged you, the parents, to show your support for Allenby, and YOU DID IT!  Thank you Allenby parents! Our children will benefit from programs like Scientist in the School, Artists in the Classroom and additional resources for their classrooms.

Thank you to all the parents and teachers who purchased tickets and attended Big Night Out!  And thank you to the parents who offered their time during the event to make sure everything ran smoothly!  Thank you also to the parents who couldn’t attend Big Night Out but still showed their support through donations!  We live in a truly unique and remarkable community!
