We Need Our Locally Elected Trustee

As most of you know we are in the middle of discussions on how to accommodate Full Day Kindergarten in our already crowded school. We are writing to you today because we have run into a problem that we believe can best be solved if the community speaks up with one strong voice. We would like you to follow this link and read a petition that has been created to get the help we need from our local TDSB Trustee Howard Goodman.

At the moment he has excused himself from any and all substantive discussions on this issue because of an email complaint from one constituent who thought that Trustee Goodman might have a conflict of interest solely because he lives in the neighbourhood he represents. Trustee Goodman has said repeatedly that he does not believe he has a conflict, but has been told by his lawyer that he risks a long and expensive lawsuit if he remains at the table.

While we understand his decision to step back, we want to make it clear that we would strongly support his return to the table. In fact, we believe it is crucial to finding the solutions that would best suit our community.

When you go to the petition, you will see that it has already been endorsed by the school council chairs of all the schools involved in the review and parent committee reps. from each of the schools on the review committee itself. In addition it has been signed by our Ward Forum chair and our Ward representative at TDSB’s Parent Involvement Advisory Committee.

We are hoping to collect 1500 signatures as quickly as possible. Please help us reach this goal. Sign the petition and pass this email on to your friends in the neighbourhood.
