Byte Sized #1

In partnership with the school administration, the APA has been spending on technology at Allenby to enhance the classroom learning environment. In an effort to increase the awareness of technology in a school in its most general sense, this occasional series of short notes will feature  interesting Allenby, TDSB or more general educational news, perhaps online resources, or other interesting links all relating to technology in the (and sometimes our) school. If you have something that you think would be of interest in this space, feel free to email me at bercovitch-dawang@rogers.com.

The first of this series is http://www.khanacademy.org. The khan academy features short videos (over 2000) on every math concept from (really) basic arithmetic through university level subjects of which I have never heard. This free site (no registration required) has garnered international acclaim as well as millions of users around the world and funding from Bill Gates.  Try it once, and you’ll wonder why everyone doesn’t use it.  Or maybe they already do.
