Chair’s Message

“It takes a village to raise a child” is a proverb that most of us are aware of and it certainly rings true in the Allenby community. Our teachers, office staff, administrators and wonderful parent volunteers all have a hand in “raising our children”. While academics is obviously a primary focus of any school, there is so much learning and experiencing that happens through all of the extras that we are so lucky to have at our school. Our teachers are great at offering sports teams, choirs, lunchtime athletics and various clubs and leadership activities. And, the Allenby Parents’ Association works hard to deliver initiatives that also enhance the educational experience of all students at Allenby. Whether it be caring for the safe arrival of our students, organizing fun and community building events or helping to fund academic initiatives in the school, the APA is definitely playing an active role in our village.

I encourage you to get involved at Allenby as much as you can. Volunteering for classroom activities, field trips or APA committees is rewarding and it means you are doing your part to help in our village.

Thank you to all the new parents who have stepped up to fill positions within the APA – we are so pleased to have you join us. We still have a few critical positions that need to be filled.

Drop Zone Co-ordinator – You do not have to work at the Drop Zone every morning if you take on this role. In fact, all of the work can be done in the comfort of your home, in front of you computer! We are looking for a volunteer to plan and manage the St. Clements and Castlefield Drop Zones and Traffic Monitor volunteers (i.e., create the sign-ups and communicate them to the applicable classes).

Fundraising Team Members – Help to organize our Fall Fundraiser or manage our community relationships. There’s always a lot going on with APA fundraising and we need help!

Speaker Series Co-ordinator – Identify and book one or two speakers for our parents-only speaker nights.

Class Representatives – Provide a connection between the APA and the parent community. These volunteers are often called upon to help with classroom party planning and volunteer organization. Please fill out and submit this form by end of day Friday, September 15th to be considered.

Please contact Lisa Parker to get involved!
