Concussions, Getting the Facts Nov 9, 7pm, Lawrence Park CI
Much of what we learned when we were younger about concussions and other brain injuries turns out to have been flawed. New research into the brain has radically altered our understanding of what causes a brain injury, how to prevent one, how to identify one, and how to help someone recover from one. Dr. Paul Comper (neuropsychologist), Dr. Mark Leung (Sports Medicine Physician) and Dr. Robert Brock (Orthopaedic Surgeon/Sports Medicine Physician) will brief parents, students, and educators on what we know now.
TDSB is taking a lead in the prevention and management of brain injuries. On Nov. 2, the Program and School Services Committee will be considering a “brain injury policy” that I have proposed to ensure that TDSB remains in the forefront of protecting students’ brains from the lasting effects of injury.
