FDK / Space Update

As mentioned above, the Student Accommodation review will start soon. The first step in the consultation is to form an advisory committee made up of parents, school staff, & daycare from each school and some community members. This PART (Program Area Review Team) committee will help  ensure that the consultations hear from all interested people, that the information presented is complete and understandable during the consultations, and that TDSB staff and Trustees gather all available insight, options, opinions, and information available before making decisions about how to deal with enrolment pressures in North Toronto elementary schools. As we enter into this process we wanted to assure you that  Allenby has a great cross-section of parent volunteers on the Space/FDK committee. There is representation from both English and French parents, daycare parents, parents with very young children, parents with older children, and parents who live in all parts of our current school boundaries. As you know, a call-out was sent out to all Allenby parents to join the committee last year when we first learned that this process would be taking place and we are pleased to have a great group of volunteers in place. The committee has been meeting since the fall in preparation for the formal process.    The representatives on the PART  will be fully supported by the work of our larger committee.  They are not making decisions on their own.  They represent the ideas of the committee. We are committed to giving parents as much information as possible with updates through the Allenbeat, allenbyparents.com, and at the APA meetings.  If there are more time sensitive updates then we will use our email system.
We would also like to encourage you to visit  Howard Goodman’s website . He has prepared a section entitled Making Room for Full Day JK/SK.  It has a summary of the work that has been done to date and a  Q and A document to help answer common questions that parents may have about the process. To receive regular updates by email, sign up by emailing him at Howard.Goodman@tdsb.on.ca . Follow him on Twitter @HowardGoodman .  He will be providing regular updates on the process.  In this weeks update Howard touches on a number of issues including Making Room for Full Day JK/SK and CAPE a group of parents that has come together to try to find a way to have extra-curricular activities resume soon:
