The Parent Involvement Advisory (PIAC) Committee needs your help!
The City of Toronto is looking for input on its recreation programs and services and wants to hear from you! This includes our school pools. The City of Toronto and the Toronto District School Board currently have a Letter of Understanding (leasing agreement) regarding the use of the 33 TDSB pools which will expire December 31, 2011. These pools offer important recreation programs in many communities and neighbourhoods as well as aquatic programming for our students.
We need you to tell the City how important it is that the City and the TDSB work together with the community to maintain a partnership until a strategy/agreement has been worked out to secure long term sustainable funding for these pools.
Please come out and let the City of Toronto know how important TDSB pools, in fact all pools (TDSB and City pools) are to you. Your show of interest by attending a meeting may be all that is needed to convince the City officials to continue to fund our pools in schools with continued City programming. Please see the list of the locations of the sessions below:
- Scarborough – May 11, 2011 – 7 p.m. at Don Montgomery CRC (Gym) 2467 Eglinton Ave E (between Kennedy Rd and Midland Ave.)
- North York – May 19, 2011 – 7 p.m. at Mitchell Field CC (Gym) 89 Church Ave (east of Yonge St. and west of Willowdale Ave.)
- Etobicoke York – May 30, 2011 – 7 p.m. at Etobicoke Olympium (Gym) 590 Rathburn Rd. (at Renforth)
- Toronto East York – June 9, 2011 – 7 p.m. at Wellesley CC (Gym) 495 Sherbourne St. (Sherbourne St and Wellesley St E)

ASL interpreting, attendant care services, other accommodation and drop-in activities for children three years of age and older are available on request.
