Message from the desk of Shameen Sandhu, System Leader, TDSB Mental Health & Professional Support Services

This year, the TDSB recognized Children’s Mental Health Week from May 2 to 6, 2022.  We are continuing the conversation, specifically for parents, guardians, staff and caregivers, with a focus on Mental Health and Well-being for Newcomer.

Equity is central in supporting mental health and well-being for everyone. We prioritize identity affirming supports for students, parents, guardians and caregivers, from an anti-oppressive and anti-racist stance. We aim to continue fostering a deeper understanding of the impact intersecting identities have on mental health and well being. This allows us to develop identity specific and culturally responsive resources and supports.

We are extending an invitation for an evening webinar for parents, guardians, staff and caregivers:
Thursday, May 26th from 7 – 8:30pm with guest speaker, Dr. Leo Edwards
Register in advance for this webinar:

Dr. Edwards is the current Health Equity Leader at CAMH, Center for Addictions & Mental health, Canada’s leading mental health research & teaching hospital.  He is also a mental health consultant, lecturer and therapist.  The Webinar Link is also attached in the flyer and details about interpretation services, if needed.
