Get ready Allenby to support the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research. To kick off our Terry Fox fundraising campaign, classes will be learning about the importance of kindness and caring as they look at the legacy of Terry Fox. On Friday, October 1, students and staff will enjoy a mapped route around our neighbourhood. Our students will be participating in a community building celebration by gaining a greater understanding of how we can support cancer research and offering assistance to those who have had to face the challenges associated with this disease.
Fundraising for the Terry Fox Foundation will be organized online this year. Let’s get our fundraising going and show everyone how we can “ Try Like Terry”! In addition to the school’s planned activities that will build awareness about Terry Fox and his mission, the APA’s Health & Wellness committee is excited to partner with the school this year to host a “Virtual Allenby Run” competition.
This competition will run Saturday, September 25 through Thursday, September 30 (6:00 pm). Students are encouraged to run or walk daily and track their minutes. A Google tracker will be available through your child’s Google classroom or Brightspace. All minutes logged will be tallied, and the classrooms with the most minutes will win an extra recess!
Step 1: Put on your running shoes, and STRETCH!
Step 2: Get your fitbit or stopwatch ready to time your minutes.
Step 3: Run Allenby Run! (Or walk!)
Step 4: Log your minutes on the running tracker
Winning classes will be announced Friday, October 1 through morning announcements.
