The Danceathon next Thursday, March the 8th is run by the Grade 6 Free the Children Leadership group. Grade 6 teams have been visiting classrooms to give the students information about Sierra Leon and about the clean water project that is the focus of this year’s fundraiser. The Free the Children Team work with staff mentors Pamela Segal and Risa Levitt this year and up to now they have worked on the local project for the North York Food Bank in the fall and are selling Me to We Artisans bead necklaces at some school events to raise money to support he work of Free the Children both here in Canada and around the world. The Danceathon is their biggest campaign of the year. For those families new to Allenby, in the past few years, the Allenby Free the Children Team has raised money to build a school in Africa, buy school supplies, pay for alternative income projects and another school in India.
