We welcome Mr. Todd Scott in Room 007 and are happy to inform you that Ms. Chau-Wolpert gave birth to a healthy baby boy last week.
We are entering the phase of the year when we begin to plan for 2012-2013. The Staffing process has been slowed down somewhat this year due to budget conversations at both the provincial and TDSB level. I will outline the process and general timelines here:
- In February each school receives a preliminary projected enrollment, and at that time school Principals have an opportunity to give input based on the real numbers in the school. This year, the preliminary projections appeared to be close to what is actually expected.
- In March the Planning Department at the TDSB creates projected enrollment figures for the following school year, based on a formula that takes into account trends over the past 5 years.
- This year, on April 11th (2-3 weeks later than usual) the school receives the projected staffing allocation
- Consultation with teachers and parents follows. (If you are interested in this, please contact Lori Pike, APA chair.) A staffing model that includes classroom organization and the delivery of rotary subjects is developed within Ministry of Education and TDSB parameters and guidelines.
- The Staffing Model is approved by the superintendent, and local school planning begins.
- Job postings for internal transfers occur during the next month or so.
- A letter will come home the first week of May inviting input from parents based on the approved model for the placement of their child.
