Allenby’s Window Replacement Project

Starting on Monday, November 19th, the windows in the old part of the school will be replaced. This is going to involve some logistical challenges. We are working on those that pertain to children and classrooms to make for the least disruption possible.

Impact on the school yard: The equipment needed for this project will include a long trailer for the windows, a dumpster and some additional parking for the workers. This will mean that along the St. Clements fence, an area will be fenced off that will probably extend to the whole length of the yard. The crew is accustomed to working in schools while in session and will put adequate safety measures in place. We will, of course, monitor this closely. This will mean that classes that normally line up along the St. Clements fence will line up on the east side of the soccer court for the duration of the project.

Scheduling: The replacement team will be here on Friday the 16th to get set up for the project and will begin on the 2nd floor on Monday with the Staff Room. Once the Staff Room has been done, they will move through the classrooms on the second floor. Each classroom will take about 2 days, possibly 3 if there are particular challenges or a larger number of windows. While the windows are being replaced in any given class, that class will move temporarily to the Staff Room. The logistical plans for the first floor classrooms and basement are yet to be finalized, but will probably involve using a combination of the Lunch Room and the Library. We will send out information as soon as we have it.

Kindergarten: Please note that we will ensure that kindergarten windows will be replaced during the winter holidays so that we do not have to move kindergarten children to a temporary location.
