Allenby Build Update

Excavating the hill

The cold weather has not stalled the construction of our new wing at Allenby. Safety continues to be the primary objective for students, families and staff. Now that the build is underway, we will be providing weekly updates in the newsletter with photos so that everyone can be informed about this exciting chapter in Allenby’s history.

This week, the construction team is removing the hill on the north-east side of the school. We expect to have this completed by Thursday, February 20, and noise levels are expected to be significantly reduced after that time. For now, the noise levels will be closely monitored and students in room 005 who are adjacent to the excavation site will move to a quieter location as needed, and we will assess our plan on a daily basis to ensure a comfortable and safe learning environment for all. Over the March break, inside work (such as removing the lockers in rooms 101 and 102 and moving the daycare kitchen) is to be completed in order to minimize the disruption for students in the classrooms.

Cate Spidle has been in contact with the KCL Construction reps and TDSB site managers. We will continue to keep you updated. Click here to see an artist sketch of the new wing.
