We are very happy that the Glee and Ball Hockey clubs got off the ground
this week and are available to the over 200 students who signed up.
Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make this happen.
The intention of these clubs was to provide ALL grade 1-6 Allenby
students with lunchtime activities that were lost due to the climate of
no extracurricular activities. Several parents expressed disappointment
that their kids did not get into these clubs because they missed the
deadline. As this a parent run initiative, we needed to obtain permits
and insurance, ensure we had sufficient volunteers to match the ratio
of the students, and set up teams and schedules. In such circumstances,
and given the time constraints for parents, deadlines were necessary.
Hopefully extracurricular activities will resume soon and this will not
be the “new normal”. But until they do, the Allenbeat is the forum for
all news related to such activities. Please ensure you read this
regularly so, among other reasons, you can take advantage of other clubs
and events that other parents may initiate.
