Some key aspects of our planning for September will involve some refinement of our Caring and Safe Schools planning based on the data from the School Climate Surveys, particularly the student results. We were not particularly surprised by the results, but did note some patterns that are informing our priorities and planning for next year.
We are consulting with the Equity department, Public Health, parent representatives and our own staff to decide on actions in the new school year. We will also be working with a Caring and Safe Schools Committee that hopefully will include active parent involvement. More details to follow.
Parents of future Grade 5 and 6 students may appreciate knowing in advance that those students will be going to the Island School early in the school year, the first group going September 19 – 21, the second group October 1-3 and the third group October 3 – 5. You will receive detailed information immediately upon return to school in September with the dates for your child.
