Dear Parents,
The first floor hallway is looking fine! Not only do we have a new paint job but the hall is lined with the amazing pumpkins that have been carved this week for the pumpkin-carving contest. Please stop by and visit, and if you are unable to visit check out our twitter account which will have pictures posted of the competition on Friday. Monday afternoon we will have our Halloween parade and students and staff will be dressed for the festivities. Before then, we have our Spirit Day this Friday. The Spirit Committee this year, in understanding that Halloween is next week (and like me work is being done on costumes for Monday) has made the theme simple with a dress up/dress down day. Grade six students have been making announcements. In order to support students and families in celebrating our Spirit Days, we have outlined the various themes each month below. These dates will also be updated on both the Allenby and APA website.
Here are the monthly spirit day themes:
October 28 – Dress up/dress down day – wear your fanciest clothes or your most casual duds, or a combination of both! You decide.
November 25 – Twins/multiples day – dress up the same as one or a few friends.
December 23 – Pyjama day
January 27 – Book and movie character day – will you dress up like Spiderman? Franny K. Stein? Cinderella, Harry Potter, or Amelia Bedelia, Geronimo Stilton, Baby Mouse, or even Anne of Green Gables?
February 24 – Imagination day – Wear your wildest imaginary creations – Unicorn horns, robot-fairy wings, zebra elf ears, goblin chicken feet, or whatever else your imagination cooks up!
March 24 – Time Warp Day – dress up in your most retro or most futuristic gear.
April 28 – Wacky Hair Day – (please note that I have moved students away from using the term “crazy” as I don’t think it’s an appropriate descriptor) Hair all teased up into a beehive? Tons of tiny braids? Spiky, curly, or super straight – wear your locks in any way you like!
May 26 – Sports Jersey Day – Whatever team you support, whether it’s baseball, soccer, hockey, football, lacrosse, or any other sport, whether it’s professional or amateur, wear your sports jerseys to school!
June 23 – Beach Day
