Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

I can’t believe that I am writing my last principal’s message of the year! What an unbelievable year at Allenby thanks to our amazing staff, students and parent community.

I want to wish you all a safe and relaxing summer vacation. I hope you are able to spend time with friends and family and perhaps do some reading, travelling or pursue some interest or passion (my summer goals are to nail my golf swing, become a Google educator and read poolside).

Best wishes to all our graduates and to those students who will not be returning to Allenby in September. I wish you all much success and look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments.

Please make sure you are sun safe, street smart and water wise! Rest, relax, have fun and return to us safely on Tuesday September 5th for the best year yet!

Itinerant Music

The Allenby Parents’ Association held a meeting last week to discuss changes to the Itinerant Music Program. Following that meeting, Tracey O’Toole, Lisa Parker, Gillian Uy and Samantha Atkinson met and developed a model moving forward that addressed parent concerns, student voice and access while ensuring the success of the itinerant music program for years to come. The attached letter outlines the changes to the Itinerant music program.

French Immersion Grade 5/6 Class Changes

During the placement meetings, we had a number of changes to student enrolment allowing us to create a straight grade 5 and straight grade 6 class in our French immersion panel in place of two 5/6 classes. This change supports both teacher and parent preference and was outlined in the letters that accompanied the report cards for the grade 4&5 French immersion students (other letters had been printed school-wide that showed 5/6 classes and it was decided that since we are an eco-platinum school, that we would not reprint the letter school-wide).
