It is an exciting spring at Allenby, even if it isn’t spring-like weather outside. Tomorrow we have a team of parent volunteers supporting our distribution of new levelled libraries and bookcases to all of our grade 1&2 classrooms. These levelled libraries will provide students an opportunity to take books home that are “just right” for them to read with their parents. Our primary french immersion classes have completed a beautiful mural to “bring life” to the narrow basement hallway created with the new wing last year. Allenby teachers have been working in teacher collaborative inquiry teams to improve teaching and learning by implementing the use of our new hitachi interactive projectors, implementing google drive and google classroom, incorporating technology (tablets, chrome books) into the classroom or supporting self regulation to name a few. We can’t wait to share some of the great things happening at Allenby during Education Week. We are opening our doors to parents and the community on Wednesday May 4th from 2:15pm until the end of the day to come and see the great learning happening at Allenby. I will include an overview of the learning experiences taking place throughout the school on the 4th in the last APA Newsletter for April. Pencil this date on your calendar…we hope you can join us!
