Progress Report Card

Dear Parents/ Guardians/ Caregivers:

Your child is bringing home the Elementary Progress Report Card next week. This report card is part of the Ministry of Education’s policy on Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools, Grades 1 – 12.

Your child’s Elementary Progress Report Card will inform you of the progress your child is making at this point in the school year.  However, teachers will not be using letter grades or percentage marks.

Your child’s progress is reported as follows:

The first page indicates how well your child is developing the learning skills and work habits that are essential for success.  They are:

  •     Responsibility
  •     Organization
  •     Independent Work
  •     Collaboration
  •     Initiative
  •     Self Regulation

The second page provides a report on your child’s overall progress towards the achievement of curriculum expectations.  Your child’s teacher(s) will check one of the following to indicate his/her progress:

  •     progressing very well
  •     progressing well
  •     progressing with difficulty

We continue to work with you as partners to ensure your child is a successful learner.  Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me.

Sincerely,
Cate Spidle            Elizabeth Lau
