Province-Wide School Crossing Guard Appreciation Drawing Contest

June 1st is School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, and to celebrate, the Ontario Traffic Council’s School Crossing Programs Committee is pleased to host a province-wide School Crossing Guard Appreciation Drawing Contest for children across Ontario. The contest invites students to express their appreciation for School Crossing Guards through art, while helping schools and communities take part in the celebration in a meaningful and engaging way.

Contest Winners: The winning drawings will be featured on the official thank-you cards for School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week and provided for distribution throughout Ontario.

Winner Announcement: The winners will be announced by April 13th, 2026, on the School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week webpage. The winning drawings will be featured on official thank-you cards distributed during School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week (June 1st to June 5th, 2026). The contest theme is “Celebrating Our School Crossing Guards”.

Any child between the ages of 4 and 14 years old may enter. One entry per student, and this is open to students across Ontario. The contest is now open and will close on March 31st, 2026.

Artwork must be emailed to traffic@otc.org and include:

  • Student’s first name
  • Age
  • School name
  • Municipality
  • Contact information

Artwork Guidelines

  • Paper size: 8.5 x 11 inches
  • Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, or PDF
  • Any drawing medium may be used
  • Artwork must reflect the contest theme in a positive and appreciative way
  • Submissions must be original work
  • Drawings should reflect diversity and inclusivity within the community

Important Note to Parents and Guardians:
By submitting an entry, parents or guardians consent to the use of their child’s artwork on thank-you cards and related promotional materials for School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, along with the child’s first name and city or town.

The Ontario Traffic Council School Crossing Programs Committee was created to implement a One Voice Approach for collaboration, sharing, review, support, and resources. To streamline our School Crossing programs across the province for improved safety messaging, program delivery, and support/promotion of safe and active travel to school.
