Many of you know that there have been discussions about space issues in schools in Allenby’s area. It is early in the process and the feasibility of a number of scenarios have been discussed. It is a complex issue as it is not just the issue of implementation of full day kindergarten, but also an increase in enrollment across the board in several schools due to demographic changes. At this point I am happy to be able to inform you that any option of removing French Immersion from Allenby, or, alternatively, of turning Allenby into an Immersion Centre has been taken off the table. Decisions about the ultimate solution will have to be made before the end of the next school year in order for adequate time to prepare for September 2014, which is when the remaining schools, including Allenby, are scheduled to begin full day kindergarten. Community consultations will begin in the fall. A representative group from the APA will be involved in these consultations.
