Principal’s Message

Dear Allenby Families,

The weather continues to surprise us this month so we ask that families listen to the morning weather reports and ensure that the kids are coming to school with appropriate attire. All students are expected to have indoor shoes at school daily. Not only do we want to keep our school building clean, but most importantly, we want to keep our kids safe. We have already had one Fire Drill this term, and will be conducting at least 2 more before it turns colder. In the event of a situation requiring a true evacuation, students will not have time to put on footwear before leaving the building.  It is best to develop the habit of changing footwear each day before entering the classroom.

Thank you to our dedicated parents who are helping to keep the outside safe for the Allenby community by supporting the Kiss ‘n’ Ride program, putting out pylons on St. Clements in the bus zone, and keeping well back from the school doors during dismissal times. We all share a tight but special space and need to work together to keep it running smoothly. Also, we ask that parents/guardians say their good byes at the fence, as the school yard is too small for everyone to convene there in the morning. Thanks for your support!

Allenby provides many extras for our students, thanks in large part to the efforts of the APA fundraising teams. In spite of this huge financial support to the school, there still may be some school field trip costs or other expenses that strain a family budget from time to time. The school is always able to provide alternative arrangements for families requiring support. Please feel comfortable speaking to your child’s teacher, or Jamie or Renee in the office.

Just a reminder to families that each time there is a short week at school, the school weekly schedule will be adjusted due to our 5 day cycle. Tuesdays will continue to be day 1 until after the Thanksgiving holiday, and then Tuesdays will become day 4.
