The French as a Second Language Advisory Committee (FSLAC) circulated a survey to TDSB trustee candidates across the city to find out about their views on French as a Second (Official) Language. The responses can be viewed here. Candidates were advised that their responses would be shared with you and on social media, so feel free to share the document and/or the link with others.
The responses are organized by TDSB ward (Allenby is Ward 8) Advance polls are open Tuesday, October 14-Sunday, October 19 and election day is Monday, October 27.
These are the 3 questions we asked:
1. What is your personal and/or your family’s experience with learning French?
2. If elected, would you support policies and practices that will continue to ensure access to Core, Extended and Immersion French programs for all students whose parents choose that educational path?
3. The Ministry of Education allocates an annual French as a Second Language grant to the TDSB based on enrolment in core, extended and immersion programs of about $28 M. How would you spend that money?
