Last week at our APA meeting I did a workshop on how parents can support their children with early reading strategies. Although my children are teenagers now, I remember those evenings and weekend mornings spent playing games and singing songs about letter sounds or cuddling up with a book. I didn’t know then that the time I was spending with my son and daughter in those early years would have a lasting impact on their proficiency and attitude towards reading throughout their life. Nor did I know the different reading strategies to assist them in tackling a word that they didn’t know. These are included in the presentation from the APA meeting. Enjoy the presentation and the book you will read with your child tonight!
