It seems highly unlikely that APA Pizza Lunches will go forward in this school year and therefore we will have missed 4 pizza lunches (March, April ,May, June) that we cannot make up.
There are over 400 families that participate in Pizza Lunch. Given that the average refund through Amilia would be approximately $30 per family (note: this amount obviously varies based on number of students and number of slices ordered per household), the time to issue these refunds and the resulting transaction fees makes refunding all families infeasible. The APA has instead planned to carry over the pizza lunch obligation to September and provide four free lunches in the 2020/2021 school year (families will not be charged for these lunches).
If you have a grade 6 student that is leaving the school, and will not be participating in Pizza Lunch next year (ie., graduating), and you would like a refund, please watch for a refund request form coming through class reps later in May. A 1-slice refund will be approximately $8, a 2-slice refund will be approximately $16 and a 3-slice refund will be approximately $24.
We’ve had a suggestion to donate the intended Pizza Lunch expenditures to a food bank or charitable organization in need. Because the APA is a registered charitable organization with voting by-laws, it is not possible for us to direct funds in a way that they were not originally intended.
Please email Heather Hough with any questions about Pizza Lunch.
