Dear Parents,
I would like to assure you that I have been attending the public meetings at Lawrence Park CI and commend all the excellent work that parents (and all members of the PART process) have done, despite the tremendous stress that this issue has placed on the community. Board officials and all the parents who attended have done a great deal of wonderful and difficult work.
The Province has provided over $200M of Capital Funding to the TDSB to implement Full Day Kindergarten, an important initiative for our 4 and 5 year olds that will be of great benefit for our children.
While local school boards are responsible for managing their allocated Full Day Kindergarten Capital Funding, I have clearly stated at the PART meetings that I do not support involuntary boundary changes and will do what I can as an MPP to support the efforts and recommendations of PART to accommodate Full Day Kindergarten at all Ward 8 PART schools within the existing boundaries.
I fully support and will continue to advocate for Ministry funds for the 2 room build at Allenby as proposed by the Allenby PART committee at the April 16th meeting at Lawrence Park C.I.
I have spoken to Minister Sandals and Ministry officials directly about the need to support the PART proposals at all my community schools, and Allenby’s 2 room build in particular.
I remain very optimistic that this capital funding from the Ministry will be available to support the proposed 2 room build at Allenby, subject to TDSB approval.
Sincerely,
Mike Colle, MPP
