Nominations and Volunteer Opportunities

Next Friday, September 13th is the last day for nominations for our APA executive council. The positions are open to everyone, and there are elections every year. So if you are interested in any of the following roles, or have questions and would like to speak to me about what is involved, please feel free to contact Lori Miller Pike.

  • Chair Person
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Director (s) Communications and Spirit
  • Health and Safety
  • Community Awareness
  • School Programs
  • Fundraising

Other volunteer positions needing people include Kiss N Ride, Attendance Verification and the Big Night Out Planning committee.

Kiss N Ride is our drop off program that runs from 8:40 till 9:00 daily on Castlefield. All you need to do is open car doors and say good morning! It is a great way to start the day, and you are done by 9:00! Please contact Stephen Dawang if you are able to take a shift.

Attendance Verification is our safe arrival program that notifies parents if their child has not arrived at school and there is no message that they will be absent. You work in the office, collect attendance sheets from classes (brought to you by adorable and responsible students), and then cross check with the attendance line. Then the calls are made for students that are not listed as present. If you are interested in taking a morning shift, please contact Marcia Zemens.

Big Night Out is our fall parent event. A great and casual night with a fantastic silent auction, delicious food and fun music. But it takes planning, so if you would like to meet some new parents and plan a great party, contact Lisa Parker.

Our first APA meeting will be held on September 18th in the school library from 7-9. We will be combining this meeting with our “New Parent Event” and have tours (and of course snacks) at the end of the meeting. This will be a nice way for you to meet other parents in a casual setting! The APA meetings in general are a great way to find out what is happening at Allenby, vote on important issues and ask questions and make suggestions. The September meeting will give you a chance to vote for our new Executive Council and the budget for this school year (as presented in June). Child care is also available with an RSVP to Paula Riczker.
