The members of the PART met this week in preparation for the Final Public meeting which will be held at Lawrence Park Collegiate on May 15th. At this meeting the PART recommendations will be shared and the community will, once again, be able to offer input. The recommendations concerning Allenby that will be shared on May 15th are as follows.
It is recommended that, to accommodate FDK:
- A two-room addition will be built.
A retrofit to be done for Rooms 101, 105, 106, 108B
Two displaced classes be moved into the addition
It is recommended that, to accommodate projected future growth:
- A Child Care Occupancy Review Committee (CCORC) commence so that Room 006 becomes shared space with the child care for September 2014
- Optional attendance for French Immersion be closed
- French Immersion catchment area be changed so that it aligns with the English catchment area (current students grandparented)
- Redirect future residential development to North Prep Jr. PS
- If a fourth classroom is needed in the future, TDSB Allenby Community Survey results from the Ward 8 PART, indicate that first consideration be given to reclaiming one of the two rooms currently being used as exclusive space by the child care
We continue to remain confident about the build. Once officially approved, more details about the location and design of the build will be determined and shared with our community.
As mentioned last week, we have been in touch with Trustee Shelley Laskin, who is standing in for Howard Goodman to represent our Ward. The recommendation is to hold back any lobbying of the trustees at this time given the positive reaction this build has received. We will continue to keep you posted.
