A few weeks ago, Dr. Molly Friedman of Smile Squad Leaside—an Allenby parent and valued community member—visited all six of our Grade 2 classes to teach students about the importance of oral hygiene. This engaging visit supports the Grade 2 Health Curriculum, specifically Human Development and Sexual Health, Expectation D2.4: Oral Health.
Dr. Friedman brought a fun and interactive science experiment that demonstrated how fluoride toothpaste helps protect teeth by “locking in” calcium, much like it does with an eggshell.
Each student also received a take-home dental kit with toothpaste, a toothbrush, flossers, and more—generously donated by Dr. Friedman herself. We are incredibly grateful for the time, care, and resources she shares with our students every year.
Thank you, Dr. Molly Friedman, for your continued support and for making oral health education both exciting and meaningful at Allenby. We look forward to your visit each year!
